A Place Where Kids Can Get the Download About Art and Creative Bits!
Hi, I’m Evie, a 14 year old student who attends Wanda’s art classes at Anise Art Spa Studio Kiama once a week. And let me tell you, I’ve learned a lot over the years. Well 8 years, actually!
I started as a small 7 year old who liked to draw and now I have many art skills under my belt.
I remember my first art class vividly. I was hanging onto my mum’s hand, very nervous and shy. But as soon as I met Wanda she sent me off to play and draw! Soon all my worries had disappeared.
I remember drawing a unicorn and being very proud when Wanda praised me.
Then of course, I created my first painting. It was a cheeky looking monkey. I tried my total best to make it beautiful. I still have that painting to remind me where I started and I can see how much I’ve improved since then.
I have been in Wanda’s art classes for 8 years now, and I still love painting just as much as I did when I was 7 years old.
You can never become bored with art. I believe it takes me to a peaceful and happy place where I feel like I can just let go of all my worries and fears.
I know deep down that art really helps me at the end of a long hard day at school.
From what I have learned in my 8 years as an art student, you can never make a mistake, there is always an alternative and you can simply paint over the mistake. How cool is that?
Painting is a process where you build up your design or image over time. There is no rush. Seeing a painting when it’s finished is so satisfying, knowing all that creative process has paid off.
Now that I have a few good skills under my belt, Wanda only helps me when I need it. Art has really helped me gain confidence in my own ability to problem solve and explore my own creativity without the fear of making a mistake. Continuing with my art classes has helped me develop my own personal style, I can draw inspiration from almost anything now.
And most importantly it’s gets my creativity flowing, I’m in my zone, and I love it!
Stay tuned for my next blog about how to paint Nebulas!
Until next time,
